All social security and welfare fund pension beneficiaries who were sanctioned a pension before December 31, 2025, must complete the mustering process via an Akshaya Centre between July 17 and September 30, 2026.

The Grama Sabha (or Ward Sabha) is a fundamental component of democracy. It is a public meeting that provides an opportunity for all voters in the Grama Panchayat to participate, express their views, and engage in development activities.


What is a Ward Sabha / Grama Sabha?

The Ward Sabha/Gram Sabha is a general meeting comprising all the voters of the Grama Panchayat.

  • Collecting people's opinions.
  • Development projects are being discussed.
  • Evaluating the activities of the panchayat.
  • A social audit is being conducted.

Legal basis

The Grama Sabha and Ward Sabha came into existence under the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.

  • A Ward Sabha is mandatory in every ward.
  • The meeting must be held at least twice a year.
  • A legal mechanism to ensure public participation.

  • Select the beneficiaries of the schemes.
  • Conduct a social audit.

Who can participate?

All citizens included in the voters' list of the respective ward or Grama Panchayat may participate in the Ward Sabha and Grama Sabha.


When and where?

  • വാർഡ് സഭ: At least twice a year.
  • Gram Sabha: At least twice a year.
  • The Panchayat will inform in advance about the venue of the meeting.
