History of Grama Panchayat

Panavally Grama Panchayat, situated in the Cherthala Taluk of Alappuzha district, is a historically significant rural area spanning approximately 19 square kilometers. Located in the coastal plains of the Karappuram region—once the northernmost part of the erstwhile Kingdom of Travancore—this village shares close ties with mythology and local legends. It is said that the name "Panavally" originated from the belief that the Pandavas resided here during their period of exile.
