For the holistic development of mother and child
The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)is a major scheme implemented by the Government of India aimed at the holistic development of women and children. Through Anganwadis, various services are provided to pregnant women, lactating mothers, children aged 0 to 6 years, and adolescent girls.
Objectives of the project
- Improve the nutritional status of children aged 0 to 6 years.
- Ensure the physical, mental, and social development of children.
- Reduce infant mortality and malnutrition.
- Improve the health status of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
- Provide pre-school education prior to school admission.
- Raise awareness among families about health, nutrition, and hygiene.
Services provided through Anganwadis

| Children aged 6 months to 3 years | Supplementary nutrition, Amrutham Nutrimix, timely immunizations, growth monitoring, and health check-ups. |

| Pregnant women | Supplementary nutrition, planned pregnancy, immunization, prenatal check-ups, and awareness regarding nutrition and health. |
| Breastfeeding mothers | Supplementary nutrition, postnatal check-ups, health and nutrition awareness, and child care guidance. |
| Adolescent children | Supplementary nutrition for adolescent girls; health check-ups and referral services; growth monitoring (BMI) and anemia screening; adolescent classes/clubs; prevention of school dropouts; and services of a psychosocial counselor. |
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)is a financial assistance scheme implemented by the Central Government to safeguard the health and improve the nutritional status of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers..
- Financial assistance is available for the first living child.
- It promotes pregnancy registration, health check-ups, and vaccinations.
- Eligible pregnant women will receive financial assistance, subject to certain conditions.
- 5,000 assistance for the first delivery,
If the second child is a girl, financial assistance of ₹6,000 is provided
Poshan Abhiyaan
It is a national nutrition mission launched to reduce malnutrition among children, women, and adolescent girls in India. Poshan Abhiyaan.
- Reduce malnutrition, stunted growth, and anemia.
